First there were all those apples, and now there are pumpkins, some with faces carved into them, all over the place. Not to mention that the whole town- [And one of the ghosts pass by, just out of the corner of her eye but in clear view of the mirror.] Seems haunted...

Is this something normal for this place?

The Island I grew up on didn't have fun stuff like this even for the rich assholes in the city, and even though we traveled a lot on the Grand Line, every island has a different season, and catching festivals of any kind is really hard when you're not sticking around anywhere!

I have been to haunted places before, and have had encounters with ghosts. [Some of which were trying to kill her.]

Only the best holiday ever! You get to dress up as anything you want, and well if your a kid you go from house to house and get free candy but you know, grown ups have costume parties and stuff like that too.

I had actually gone to the Death City back in my world, where most of the souls of the departed go to. Though the ghosts here are much friendlier.

Yeah until they hide your shoes. Anyway. Yeah, it's at the end of October. And, well, there's probably a lot of history to it but in my time? It's mostly candies, costumes and parties.

Then afterwards, you turn the pumpkins into pie for Thanksgiving.

It's a surprise. Though lord knows what kind of face I should carve. Probably something wicked as sin. Also, do you consider themed socks a good gift or something exceedingly tacky.

It's based off of an old Irish tradition. The faces are said to scare away evil spirits. Ooooo [his attempt at a spooky noise] I'll have to ask Crowley if it actually works. And you can put cheerful little lights in them. Or... well, I suppose, spooky little lights. You should try it.

Well, ah... Ghosts aside it's normal enough on Earth and it's related colonies. Fall transforms into Halloween every year around this time. Before you know it there will be spooky treats and children running amok trying to get all the candy!

[ And there might be at least one disguised Time Lord joining in. ]

It really is great fun!

Oh, well... no, not exactly.

[ Not a big one on explaining these things however he didn't bother to mention his world wasn't the Earth. ]

I travel a lot. But I could tell you about hayrides. You take one out into a field to pick out your own pumpkin to carve. And there is usually a hedge or corn maze around, they really are good fun to get lost in. The ghosts are usually confined to movies and haunted house attractions... I do wonder what they are doing flying about as they are.

It is just like a Harvest Festival. Very much meant to celebrate the ending of one season and the beginning of the next!

In my world they do! My whole country, and some other countries, too. It's a harvest festival, but ... there's more to it than that. The barrier between the living and the dead gets thinner for one night, so it's easier to see and communicate with each other, and people use it as a time to confront the things they're afraid of, and celebrate that sometimes being scared can be fun.

I suppose that the barrier between the living and the dead has always been thin in my world. I had to many run ins with ghost to think that communicating with the dead as a novelty.

Really? Wow. Where I'm from, most people won't see ghosts. Not that they can't, they just ... I don't know, either they don't want to admit that they could be real, or they aren't open-minded enough.
