First there were all those apples, and now there are pumpkins, some with faces carved into them, all over the place. Not to mention that the whole town- [And one of the ghosts pass by, just out of the corner of her eye but in clear view of the mirror.] Seems haunted...

Is this something normal for this place?

I hope so, because that means we get to celebrate my favorite holiday: Halloween!

In my world they do! My whole country, and some other countries, too. It's a harvest festival, but ... there's more to it than that. The barrier between the living and the dead gets thinner for one night, so it's easier to see and communicate with each other, and people use it as a time to confront the things they're afraid of, and celebrate that sometimes being scared can be fun.

I suppose that the barrier between the living and the dead has always been thin in my world. I had to many run ins with ghost to think that communicating with the dead as a novelty.

Really? Wow. Where I'm from, most people won't see ghosts. Not that they can't, they just ... I don't know, either they don't want to admit that they could be real, or they aren't open-minded enough.

Open minded or not, in my world, if a ghost wants to be seen, they make sure that the living can. Most of the time, it is not always a good thing to see them. Most ghosts that I had encountered were the vengeful kind.

And then ends up as a ghost. [a knowing smirk] I had a book about something kind of like that when I was a kid. Only it was less about dying and more about cookies.

[see, if you go looking for trouble, you're probably going to need a tip. if you want a tip, you have to get it from someone who knows dangerous places. someone who knows dangerous places probably isn't that good at telling the truth. and if they lie, you'll probably get lost. and if you get lost .... et cetera. and then you end up a ghost. and then you need to go find someone who went looking for trouble ...]
