The ghosts don't know as much history as the Castle Roogna ghosts, but they're more coherent. Are we going to get zombies too? I've never gone so long without seeing any zombies! Lacuna and Hiatus let me play with their zombie moat monster with them, but I never play with the zombie dragons so Stanley won't get jealous.

He's already a very pretty green!! He's the best dragon! He has six legs, vestigial wings that can even almost fly, and he's a steamer! Oh, and he's the Gap Dragon, that's very important in Xanth.

Xanth has lots of dragons. Fire dragons, water dragons, land dragons, air dragons, I'd have to ask the Good Magician how many, but they like to eat virgins. [ 8| ] In the past, a bunch were sacrificed to dragons who rescued them and decided they should be saved from their abusive villages instead, and there's a famous story of a human and dragon that ran away to the Isle of View to be unicorns instead! Isn't that sweet? [ 8| ]

So tell me all about your favorite ghosts, zombies, and dragons! And if your realm doesn't have any of those -- that's really sad, and I feel bad for you, but you can tell me your favorite story about a couple that proved true love is stronger than even a dragon's jaws! And dragon jaws are really strong. Stanley chomps rocks and swords!

My favorite ghost is Duckworth! He's Scrooge's butler!

He's really nice, he cleans up the mansion, and he can turn into a scary monster whenever he wants!

Ooooohhh! Even though he's a ghost? Is it just one monster or any kind?

He makes his head into a skull with glowing red eyes and horns!

[She tries to mimic it with fingers atop her head.]

I think he's technically a poltergeist, since he can touch and move stuff.

Ohhhh I see! [Sort of, since she's not super familiar with what a poltergeist is!]

Did have that magic before he died?

No, but it might have been because he was summoned accidentally with dark magic. See, this guy wanted to both impress his mom and destroy her by taking out Scrooge McDuck with a demon he summoned. Instead, out came Duckworth!

Ohhhh! How? I got a spell confused once! It was a banish monster spell instead of a cleaning spell, because it cleaned up monsters, but I needed it to clean the tapestry. But how would a demon summoning spell get a ghost instead?

I'm not sure myself - I wasn't there when it happened. When I came home, there was Duckworth! It was neat to see him!

Neat. Why did Duckworth become his butler, do you know?

Probably 'cause he really admires and respects Scrooge! He's a really important man, after all! Anyone would be glad to work for him!

Not even Good Magician Humphrey has that, people get to get an answer for anything for just a year of work, or equal trade.

Good Magician Humphrey?

He's a staple in Xanth. One of the few magicians even during the Storm King's rule, and he went with my Grandpa Bink to find the source of magic.

Hugo's father!

Anyone can get an answer to any question; but they have to pay a year in service or equal trade. Except fellow magicians, and the King always has to be a Magician. Our families are really close, not just because of me and Hugo, but my mother and Hugo's mother have always been good friends!

... Wow, I feel like I'd be working for him forever, because I always have a million questions!

Most people don't travel to see him until they have a long time to think of something that important. And he puts three challenges ahead of them to deter stupid questions.

Oh, that's even more awesome! I love trials of worthiness!

Then you'd definitely never get bored, but he usually tailors them to the person in questing. Questioning? Both. So maybe that would be one of the detour-ants. He'd just try to make you bored into giving up.

He'll have to try a lot harder than that! I don't give up that easily!

[Giggles.] Then I guess he might have to get used to it! Or take you on as an apprentice if your curiosity is that great!
