[she did as she was told, burrowing into her blankets. at the sound of Keeper's voice, her pillow suddenly seemed as soft as deep forest moss, and she could almost see will o' the wisps floating in the darkness around her, between trees so tall and so ancient that they seemed older than the world itself. in her mind, above her, spiders spun webs like cathedral windows, shot through with starlight and hung with fog, and ghosts drifted through the trees, silently protecting the little glade where she'd curled up. within moments, she was sound asleep, the mirror toppling from her limp hand.]
