It's a phrase meaning "to fall asleep". You told me to send my practical side to dreamland but both the practical side and the romantic are interconnected. Both would have to- why am I bothering?

Oh. The kazoo is funny. [he waves it.] And I know jokes. Whales tell very funny jokes. But you have to listen for a few weeks to understand.

[he thinks about this] So you can't divide your brain in half is what you mean, so that only a part of you sleeps.

You humans are very lucky creatures that nothing gobbles you up in the night.

[There's an audible pause for a solid minute] Good heavens, no. Though if I could divide my brain in half I could find a better use for it.

[Another pause...] That is the preferably outcome- not to be gobbled. Not at night nor at any other time.

If you like me then perhaps in future you could do a small favor for me. [Pausing a moment] The next time you feel the need to express yourself... musically [Trying to be tactful here] .. could you select a daytime hour?

I don't know hours. [but he did know daytime was when the sun was out.

Everyone sleeps in the dark. The dark is my home. The sun is too bright and doesn't like me much.

Ah- I do see how that would be a problem. I suppose where you're from there are other creatures whose days and nights are essentially reversed too. [Pondering over this a bit. There wasn't really much to do for it- the shops and eateries were open during the day, it was more dangerous to travel by night with the corroded about..]

Perhaps you could find someone here that also keeps late hour- likes the dark. There are those that don't sleep all that much.
