It must be spring

 The rose blossom popped open, producing a gorgeous bloom and Crowley glared at it disapprovingly. 

"Not yet! June I said! You're all meant to be blooming your brightest in June... It doesn't mean a thing if you do it early."

The rose dutifully folded back up to conserve it's strength for June as Crowley looked back towards the mound of cupcakes he had sitting on a table in his temporary workspace out in the castle training gardens. This sort of work couldn't be done inside... not when you were going as big and as flashy as he was. With a snap of his fingers the cupcakes turned into a much larger golden clad pillar of a cake. 

"Hm, might be too much 'golden throne'.'

He tried again and this time the cake was even larger with so many spires and decorations it almost looked more like a model than a cake.

"That's very 'cathedral'." Crowley frowned and tilted his head at some of the decorations, "Not sure about the little cherubs. I mean once you've met one they lose their charm... More modern maybe."

Crowley snapped his fingers again and this cake looked like it had flying flowers cascading their way around the center cake.

"Should it be all white? Nothing says a wedding cake had to be all white. I could add a touch of spice!"

And once again the cake transformed. This time into something black and red with a touch of angel. As he stood back admiring his work Crowley caught sight of a flash of light. His mirror was sitting out on the table and had apparently been capturing the whole display. His frown deepened instantly as he rolled his head in dramatic fashion but collected the mirror to do a touch of damage control.

"So I'm looking for a cake design, it's no big deal. I had thought it would be secret but... since it's not. Lydia, up for a job in June?"

"Because that was what I was Created to Do. Unlike Humans I don't precisely have a choice. Or at least not much of one. Too much defiance and Down I go-- and there is no forgiveness once you start to fall. The upper echelons have no second chances."

"But that's what you were created to do at home. This isn't your home. What's stopping you from defying that here?"

"The Almighty is the Almighty everywhere, my dear. Regardless if her Presence is felt or not. Anyway, you don't deny your human-ness do you? You embrace it. You were created for change and you do so admirably." He saluted her and took a drink from the wine bottle the author didn't just forget he had. Like they were sitting in a vacuum. Which they weren't. They were quite happily ensconced at the place doing the thing.

Or, well, melancholically ensconced as the case may be.

Yes. Much place. Very thing. Such wine. Wow.

Eleanor sighed, tilting her head at him. "We can't have it both ways, you know. If your Almighty is here, then so is my points system and I really like living without that having over my head. I'm still a human, but the rules are different here. Why can't the same go for you?"

"That's different. However that was implemented or whyever, it's clearly not the system here. Anyway, I don't want to argue it. What is, is, is. That's just ineffable."

"Theeeeeeeeen how do you know you're not meant to take a break here? I mean... if it's ineffable and all..." She took a sip of her wine, giving him an oh so innocent shrug.

"Yes, yes, I know what you're driving at and I see your logic but please-- Thank you. I appreciate it, but, my dear, let it go."

She lifts her hands in surrender, smiling. "Say no more. Consider it dropped. What d'you want to talk about instead?"
