Mirror-Forced to All

[The clouds part and the Hunter's Moon shines a crimson red over the sleeping Main Street. Maybe the rest is a little uneasy. Maybe it should be. Three strangers appear in the mirror, the castle behind them, white walls turned red by the moonlight. The redheaded one steps forward.]

Greetings, apprentices!

I see thee all tucked in thy beds as borrowed magic flows through thy veins. Well, no longer! When we come into power, all thy magic will be ours and ye would be our bread and our meat and our servants hand and foot. Whatever we shall need of ye.

Unless of course, thou woulds't like to move ahead of the line....

[she laughs, full shrieking cackles, as do the others]

I look forward to see thee wriggling like worms on hooks.

Oh, and if thou are expecting help to come from any quarter.

[she holds up three crystal pendants to the mirror, in which apprentices can see a Merlin, Hades and Dreamfinder, small and unconscious within]

Thou wilt not receive it.

And so the reign of the Sanderson sisters begins!

[there is a clap of thunder and a brilliant flash of lightning... and then they are gone. But are not far.]


[you are now entering a dangerous time, apprentices. The blood moon will stay in the sky for two nights instead of one before a massive storm on the fifteenth clears it out. As the month continues there will be more rainy days than not and more nights filled with wild storms.

[The presumed leader of the Sandersons replied in a manner that was not unexpected] I'm sure that to you we may not look like much, but underestimating what we're capable of will not be to your benefit. [There must be a way to oust these ambitious witches, they just needed time to suss out their weaknesses] Besides- what can you hope to gain by seizing control now? When most of the kingdom is already uninhabitable? Unless you and your sisters are somehow immune to the corruptions effects...?

[Atem somehow doubted the claim but he had no evidence to the contrary. Instead of arguing about it he attempted to instill some uncertainty for her to think over.] Impressive- and might I say fortuitous for you since the only magic that I know of that's capable of driving back the corruption exists among the apprentices... [Not bothering to mention the class, even though there were enough handbooks lying around that it wouldn't have been hard to figure it out] ... so should something happen to those capable of wielding it there would be nothing to stop the progression.

[Knowing the danger he continued to reply] I'm willing to listen.

[there is no visible effect, but he will feel it inside his skull, as if his mind is wrapped in golden threads]

[He was taking a terrible gamble informing her of that much, but he had hoped it might deter the senseless dispatching of any of his fellow apprentices in the meantime.] I never professed to know everything. [Though a smirk tugged at his lips] ... but what I do know is that there are forces at work here that require a concentrated effort to keep them in check.

[What she says next doesn't make him any less leery, but it's too late.]

[The almost lyrical words that follow, have a peculiar effect on him. It's not unfamiliar in a sense, as it isn't the first time that someone has tried to get into his mind, but what is different is the fact that the sensation doesn't ebb, or dissipate it's ever present. He's not able to completely maintain his calm demeanor as a flash of surprise crosses his features. Trying to compose himself, he's only mildly aware that a question has been asked. Feeling unsure of what he just experienced, he looks to her- of which there seems to have been no change -which heightened his silent bewilderment.

When he does more or less get it together.... he feels compelled to answer]

[Atem realizes too late that he took the absence of the Millennium Items for granted- for though they might have protected him from being controlled in his dimension, he is in fact .. not in his dimension now]

[At the last portion his mind began to swim anew, and he reached up instinctively to grip is forehead. The last few moments seemingly washing away in an instant. Then he collapsed before the mirror to enter a sudden fit of slumber.]
