[As the full moon rises, a loud crash is heard in apartment 9A. The mirror is knocked from the dresser as it's thrown on its side. When it hits the floor it activates to the sound of a low whining growl. A figure can be seen kneeling on the floor, her plum colored skirt around her knees, revealing knee high leather boots. Her hair seems wilder than usual... And that's saying something. She covers her face, shaking her head.]

No... No, not again. Not here.

((ooc: Full moon Missy! Proceed with caution. Open to mirror or in the apartment.))

Lydia gasps, but it's more shock than terror. "Oh! ... It's the full moon."

She feels sorry for her, but has a feeling that saying so might not go well.

"If it helps... You'll be yourself again tomorrow..."

Well, she had to admit, if she hasn't expected to wake up that way, she'd be in an awful mood too.

"If you want, I can go get you anything you need from the Emporium so you don't have to go out. ... Not that I'm telling you not to if you want to. I..." It wasn't going well. She sighed. "I'm sorry. Do you want me to to just leave you alone?"

It takes a lot more than fangs and eyes to terrify her, especially since she already knows Missy a little, and knows she knows the - oh. Oh, that's a thought.

"Do you want me to go find the Doctor?"

"Okay." She nodded. "I won't tell him, then. It'll be okay. You just ... need a distraction, maybe, so you're not thinking about it all day."

She's about to suggest a book, but decides that if Missy's been alone for too long, a book would just be alone with embellishments.

"What about a game? I played Battleship with Ace over the mirrors when we were camping in different groups."

"Okay. If you want me to teach you battleship, you just need a piece of paper and something to write with, that's pretty easy."

She brought the mirror over to the kitchen table, where she'd left her drawing pad, and turned it over to a fresh page. She started drawing up the grid while she waited for Missy to get her supplies.

She held up the grid for Missy to see - a nice even square full of little nice even squares. "You draw the board. Then you have five ships ... one ship takes up two squares. Two of them take up three. One takes up four, and the last one takes up five. You draw them on your grid but don't show me where they are. Then we have to try and guess where they are, by picking one square on the grid at a time, like we're trying to bomb them."

Lydia gaped.

"If everyone did that, it wouldn't be a game at all. That's just cheating!"

She was grinning, though, because really, that was some serious out-of-the-box thinking.

There's that streak she's seen before, the little flash of danger that almost worries her. But she won't worry about Missy until she gives her honest, concrete, and present reason to. The Kingdoms are not home, not for any of them, and everything is different. Everyone is changing - at least, for certain she knows that she and Mal are.

"Boy, I bet no one invites you to game night. But... figuring out how to cheat against the Corroded could be pretty useful."

Like Dreamfinder said: not all nightmares are bad. Not all light things are good. Some things are both. Lydia likes walking the line between the two, testing the waters, finding where it sits. She has a feeling Missy might, too. But now isn't the best time to bring it up, she thinks. Maybe after the moon has started to wane a bit.

"Okay." She nodded, thinking a little. Missy was clearly extremely clever, and part of being a good part of a team was knowing everyone's strengths. "So ... for us to really save the Kingdom, it's better to purify the Corroded instead of killing them ... and that's easier for Mal and I to do if they're distracted. So ... probably the best way to cheat is to come up with a really, really good distraction. Preferably something that keeps them still. How would you do that?"

"Bait. ... I hadn't really thought of that. I don't know what they'd consider bait, other than, uh, us."

strangeandunusual: (do you hear yourself?)

"I'd want to make sure I could defend someone for certain before I used them as bait," she said, in a tone that suggested she wasn't sure this should need to be explained.

She could almost think of one, herself. Almost, she scolded herself, pushing away the thought of white wings and a smug smirk. "Not really. I mean, Mal and I have been trying, but we're two Princesses, we're not strong enough to take the Corroded out there by ourselves. We already had to turn back on one trip, and we did okay when we brought Ace with us, but ... I feel like we should have some kind of actual plan, other than just running out there to do the things Merlin needs and hoping we can handle it. Problem is, so many other people here are used to fighting things, and the worst thing I ever fought before I got here was the chicken pox."

From: [personal profile] strangeandunusual
"I think that might actually be exactly what we need. Mal said she's fought bigger monsters, but she had more friends with her, and their magic was stronger, so ... I'll ask her and see what she thinks." She smiled. "Thanks, Missy. You're the best."
