One Tired Teen Wizard on Video

(The Mirror feed opens with a tired (and sleepy) Harry sitting on his bed early in the morning a few days after the arrivals (he is still wearing his pajamas and has no glasses on, and his hair looks like a bird’s nest from tossing left and right in his sleep), although he looks as if he could fall asleep again at any moment.)

Right. I didn’t expect to get off on a shaky start with landing on my face on the floor inside the castle upon arriving a few days ago, but I guess that I should have gotten the ‘expect the worst to happen’ memo sooner than later.

(Cue loud yawning from this poor sap)

Sorry about that, it’s just that unexpected things seem to go after me back home quite a lot. Does this stuff happen to you guys in here as well?

My last situation back home was...whoo. Not good.

I think I might have mentioned that. I didn't expect to come here while I was preparing for college though so this was definitely a lot.

Yes, I was already deciding where I was going to go when I was brought here and making arrangements for when I'd see Steven in the midst of that.

Wow! That's really good for you. I, well, I didn't actually have any major plans back home before I was dragged into here, so yeah, that is very embarrassing of me to admit it.

Not necessarily. From what you told me, you had a pretty intense battle you dealt with, so I imagine your prospects wouldn't exactly be the first thing on your mind.

After all, if you're not very lucky in a battle, there are always things you lose.

That’s true, that battle took a lot of my effort and energy back home, so I honestly didn’t have any planned besides that fight. Even tiring.

What WOULD you be doing if you were home?

I’m not sure if I want to get back to studying in the school where that battle has held since it was in ruins by the end of it or I want to get away from it all. I guess that Mirror has a good reason why it delivered the latter to me by dropping me here.

I mean, after what you've been through, would you really have chosen to go and fight a brand new fight after all of that?

If I had the choice between this and fighting a new fight, I would have to just decline and move with my life and go where my heart wants to take me, to be honest. I had enough trouble back home to last me a lifetime.

I know exactly what you mean.

Yeah, I guess that sometimes things don’t go according to plan or what you want them to go, something that I and my friends had to learn the hard way. One of them likes to plan things to a letter and then all hell breaks loose when put into action. (Sorry Hermione, but even Harry has a point in planning out things too well, only for that to get thrown out of the window.)

That was a lesson I learned from my friends a few times in some pretty tense situations. My first mission out, I froze when I came face to face with a gem beast. It was much bigger than me, and I had planned everything except what would happen when I saw one.

Lesson learned: sometimes you have no idea what life will throw at you, but you try and make do, and stick to your compass. In this case, people need protecting.
