[The video clicks on to show Fenton, tapping his hand nervously on his kitchen table. He's locked the feed, but it's only a general lock. He just made sure this new guy wasn't on it. He's clearly struggling with what to say, not wanting to say too much over the open network, even locked as it was. He felt a little paranoid, but it was a similar feeling as when the witches had taken over Main Street, and you never knew if they were spying on you through mirrors - any mirror. It was that same sense of unease.]

So. Okay. I'm sure we've all heard this guy and his ransom demands. I can help give some munny to the 'cause'. The guy said he'd tell us where to drop it, later. [He frowned, narrowing his eyes faintly, glancing to the side.] ....Anyone want to join me in "pooling" our munny? Discussing who should make the "drop", perhaps? We can all meet up in one spot, if that's easier on everyone. Anyone have a place in mind?

[He was speaking in code as much as he dared. Clearly a rescue mission needed to be held, but he didn't dare announce so over the network, even locked as it was... just in case. Like with the witches. It was probably better to meet in person, to discuss plans on rescing the others. Hopefully others would understand that's what he was getting at, here.]

[And if not, well... at least they'd be gathering up the ransom munny they needed, anyway.]

[Scorpia seemed confused at first. Confused and a bit angry. Fenton was really suggesting that they cave in to this guy?

But then it hit her.]

Oh, riiiight. We really should get together and talk about how we're going to handle the "ransom". I know I'd be happy to contribute some "munny". Maybe we should meet in the castle? It's got rooms big enough for everyone who might want to "contribute" to get together.

[Fenton brightened up immediately.] Yes! The castle! That's a great idea! [He then looked a little sheepish, and cleared his throat. Just a bit too enthusiastic there, Fenton.] I mean... parts of it are always open for the Apprentices anyway, right? We all know where it is, and there are rooms like the ballroom or what they use for the lunchroom during training, that we all can meet in. [A pause, then he brightened up again as an idea hit him. To keep up the illusion that they were still talking about giving in to this guy's demands.] And it's a castle, so they'll have chests, right? For the munny? [He said with a wink.]

[And maybe other things they could explore? Did the castle have a dungeon, where they could arrest this guy? Maybe? In any case, it was a great idea and the perfect place to hold a meeting. Maybe they could even get lucky and Merlin or Dreamfinder would be there, and could offer help or suggestions. Well, a guy could dream, right?]

[Fenton didn't know what Scorpia meant by what could be "sold", but so long as they were both on the same page regarding meeting up to talk about the situation, all was good. Fenton nodded enthusiastically.]

I'll head over there right now! Then we can start pooling our resources.

[And he would indeed head over to the castle as soon as he finished his conversation with Scorpia. He did take his bank book, just in case they really did need to get some munny together, if only to look convincing. Worst case scenario, he WAS ready to fork over some munny if it meant helping to save Lydia (and the others). He'd have to go over to the bank to do so, but he'd at least be able to see how much he'd be able to give to the cause.]

Connie had her ears open. She replayed the message before finally replying].

I'd be happy to donate my money Mr. Crackshell. Where would you like to meet so I can give it to you in person?

[Fenton beamed widely.] Thanks! That'd be a great help! We'll be meeting in the Castle to... ah... pool all our munny together.

[Fenton arrived at the castle, and managed to get use of one of the spare, open rooms for everyone to gather in. He'd stopped by the bakery and grabbed bread rolls and cookies for whoever might come, and some bottles of soda from the Emporium, on his way there. He'd put the food out on one table, and was setting up a couple chairs for people to sit on, while they discussed just what to do.]

[He hoped they'd come up with an idea, and quickly. This was starting to remind him of the meeting to find Dreamfinder, a bit, now. Hopefully this meeting wouldn't be quite as involved, even if there were more people to go rescue this time!]

[ooc: Feel free to mingle about in sub-threads, and break off into your own little groups. This is not going to be as complex as the Dreamfinder mission log. ^_^;; The actual rescuers are already set, so they can set up their own sub-thread for their planning mission. :) ]

“So, obviously, we’re gonna kill the guy. The only real question is method. I’m in favor of making a statement, but, if everyone else wants quick and efficient, we could go that route too.”

Beetlejuice’s hair was a mix of stark white and red. His fangs were a little more visible than usual when he spoke, and his current tone didn’t invite opposing discussion.

Webby raised a hand like a student in school. "Blood-lust aside, it might be more prudent keeping him alive. He could have valuable information!"

"Yes, and more importantly, how he managed to even nab three apprentices in the first place? What kind of creature are we dealing with? What does he know about us? There's got to be some kind of way we can pull this off so we have an idea how we're going to catch him off guard."

She could see that BJ's whole "let's kill someone" was not helpful, but she couldn't help but feel a little violent toward anyone who'd kidnap Lydia.

“Catch him off guard? Nah. We pay the ransom. And kill him after. It’s called delayed...delayed...gradient-ovation. Or something.”

Why were these kids so against murder? What were the public schools even teaching them?

“It doesn’t matter how he did it. Just assume he’s more powerful than us, and go from there.”

"You mean delayed gratification, but its not just that. There are a few things that are troubling to me. If he could capture three apprentices, one of them being a princess, why would he only want munny? He could just be a bank robber. What's more, we can't just be satisfied with the idea that he's working alone. We have no idea how he caught everyone to begin with, whether it was just him or if he had a posse with him. If that's the case, even trying to kill him might endanger us if he, say, has a sniper in wait. There are a couple of variables to consider before we do this."

Connie was already trying to figure out what might be lying in wait to trip them up. It was one thing to fight, but it was another to go on blindly wishing for the best case scenario.

“Nerdling. I said assume he’s more powerful. That he’s got the aces. I’m perfectly willing to get shot, I’ve risked worse for less, and this is for Lydia.”

He was even more antsy than usual. Pacing and jittery, scratching at his arms. Breathing rapidly, he shook his head like a dog.

“This is useless. We need to get the dosh and split.”

Facts weren't getting to him, so they had to apply to the heart. Webby grabbed him by the sleeve, speaking to him as gently as possibly.

"Buddy, I need you to breathe. I know you're worried about them - " And about which one in particular was an easy guess - "But you need to think about if they were in our shoes. If we rushed in without a plan, we could get hurt, and they'd feel guilty about that for forever and a half. They're heroes too - they could be working on a way to get free. You have to trust them, like they trust us."

"It isn't just that," Connie said quietly. "We don't want to end up giving into their demands without finding out what they're really after. You might be willing to get shot BJ, but I'll bet anything Lydia isn't willing to let it happen. So if we can find a way to get everyone back and get whoever did this, let's explore our options first. To start, we ought to begin figuring out who does the exchange of Munny first."
