Hi, everyone! I wanted to let you know that there are some new things for sale here at the Gallery for Apprentices to use on missions. Those of you who went with Rose, the Doctor and I on our first mission into the jungle will remember the tent the Doctor made - the tent that became this gallery. Now you can all have a tent like this! He and Missy have made three of them, and they're called TARDiS Tents.

[she backs carefully into the new room, so as not to trip over anything and still give those watching a good view. one is a circus tent, one is covered in skulls and crossbones, and the other looks like a little blue yurt]

Right now there are only three, but more will be made once these have sold! Please come by the Gallery in person if you'd like to buy one.

Might be worth it to look into one of those things. They were better than sleeping in the rough.

You can come over and take a look any time. I don't have any developing work at the Photo Center, so I'll be here all day. I've got those prints from the fair for you and Aziraphale ready, too. You can surprise him with them.

You have them set up like a show room? Eh, it wouldn't be as fun as checking out new cars at a dealers... but it would be something to do.

[ Also no comment about those pictures. He was curious but didn't want to advertise them over the mirrors. ]

It seemed like a good idea. Besides, with them all set up, I could take pictures so people can see without going inside. They only last a few missions, so I don't want to risk them wearing out before they're even bought. ... I'll see you when you get here!

[she busied herself with other things in the meantime - hanging a few new prints, straightening out any that were crooked, replacing candles that had burned down, and refilling the tea and coffee stations.]

[ He arrived as quietly as a demon could and may actually have wandered off to look at some of the new prints in the other galleries before eventually making it round to the showroom. It was nice and quiet this time of day and gave him plenty of time to himself to enjoy the art. ]

[ He slipped into the room, looking at the photos and tent goodies there before walking neatly a full circle around Lydia. ]

Been thinking about it... How does a tent have an expiration date?

Hey, Crowley. Good to see you.

[she gave him space to explore everything and look it over, not minding the circling at all.]

I think that the spells he used to make them only last so long, you know? Like when you and I train to fight the Corrupted and can only use so much magic before we get tired. Or like batteries running out.

[ This having made sense was given a nod. Unfortunately magic having its limits was a thing here... ]

So which one is your favorite? Let me guess, the creepy one?

Honestly, the gallery's my favorite, but I'm biased. [she winked] The pirate one is kind of neat, but I think I would have to say the yurt. It looks like something my friend Adam would build a model of.

Better hope the gallery doesn't come with a timer.

[ Which is something he had never considered might be a thing until now... would it implode? Explode? What about all of the art? ]

You... have a backup plan if it does? Secret escape ways to get all the pieces to safety?

"I .... never thought of that," she said slowly, her eyes widening. "I don't, but you're making me think I should start one. Maybe tunnels...?"

Tunnels are a good idea. Hey, and even if this place doesn't go kerblam they could still be useful in case of more witch attacks.

Especially if there's a way to make them to important places like the apartments, the Emporium, and the infirmary... Do you know if anyone can do magic with Earth? That'd be pretty useful.

Not Earth specifically but my transformative magic has pretty much returned.

[ Side effects aside. ]

We would just need to decide what to turn the dirt into to make the hole. And... maybe ask the Doctor if punching holes in his old tent would cause it to collapse. Not sure his magic and mine would get along.

Lydia thought for a moment about tunnels, picturing the illustrations of Old Scratch's mines in a copy of Tom Sawyer she'd had as a kid. "What if you turned the earth into beams to help support the tunnels? I can ask him about the tent when I stop by the stables."

"Support beams?"

His eyebrows rose up in an appreciative 'humans are clever' gesture, before he bobbed his head and verbally acknowledged that.

"Might work. It would help to support the ceiling... keep it from collapsing... Let me know what the Doc has to say about it?"

He sashayed away, only to end up pacing around the yurt.

"And I might put a bid in on this one."

"Absolutely. Thanks for the idea!" She grinned. "I'll put your name on the list for the yurt. Once you decide if you want it, just send me a message and we can work the rest out."

"Right, message."

He waved lazily over his shoulder on his way out the door.

"You'll be hearing from me."

And she would be probably later that evening. The Doctor was weird and his ideas didn't always work but that tent he had made for their mission had made the trip more comfortable.

TARDIS tents... Now that does sound oddly familiar. Is there a family discount or even a closer than family discount?

[she laughs] That's right, there are three of you now, aren't there? I'd take it up with him. Or Missy. I have a feeling she might be willing to negotiate.

She might be willing to share. If I know myself... He might provide one but it would be extra special with some sort of hidden prank.

[the pranks make her giggle - she's unaware of the cons that are already lurking undiscovered in each tent, of course]

Seems like you never lose your sense of humor, no matter when you are. You should just prank yourself back.

Me? Prank myself? [ Oh he knitted his fingers together in the most angelic looking way ever like he had never thought to do that ever. ] Now do I look like the sort who would do that?

Looks can be deceiving, Doctor.

[ He practically bounced on his toes. ]

That is quite true!

Well, whatever you decide to do, I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun doing it - prank or no prank. If you want to come by and look at the tents, I'm here until probably around six, and I'll be back again tomorrow after noon.

No, thank you, I think I will do well enough without one, but it is an interesting idea.

I do wonder what might happen if the tent zipper became stuck.

I don't think I ever thought about that. You might be able to use magic to fix it ...?

Perhaps. But if it should go invisible or explode into glitter I doubt I would ever hear the end of it.

We're all still learning. If anyone gives you a hard time when something goes wrong, maybe they need to remember they make mistakes, too. ... Even if I have a feeling glitter would be really, really annoying to get out of things.

[she's never been a fan of the stuff]

Oh, I don't mind really. It can be rather annoying but apparently I am a fairy of chaos and the magic I've been given will often do what it pleases rather than what I would like it to.

Ohhhh. Chaos, huh? I can definitely see how that would be unpredictable. But sometimes it's fun, too, right? At least, I'd hope so...

Sometimes! I've always enjoyed a touch of chaos... its when chaos runs off with you and you find yourself jogging away from a pink tutu wearing elephant when it becomes annoying.

... You say that like it's actually happened. [she laughed] What were you trying to do?

What was I doing...

[ He paused and hummed, trying to bring that spell back to mind only all he could remember was what the animal band had been playing. ]

You know I can't recall. I think it had something to do with a fruit cart.

Maybe the magic affected your memory of it. I know that it has different effects on people, depending on what they can do. I get dizzy, and the color starts to bleed out of everything, like the world's in black and white. I've only passed out once or twice, though. And those were emergencies.

Perhaps. I know there have been occasions where I have felt a touch giddier than normal. I think some spells nearly drive me mad, but... in the nicest possible way. More Mad Hatter and March Hare than Queen of Hearts.

[she laughs a little at that] That was one of my favorite books when I was little. I think you could do a lot worse than the Hatter and the Hare. Maybe next time that happens we should have a tea party.

Is it one of your favorite books? It's always been one of mine too!

I'm not entirely sure I would remember your offer of a tea party but don't be surprised if a madman turns up on your doorstep one day.

One of, yeah. Frankenstein is my absolute favorite, though, I love Mary Shelley. And Shirley Jackson's Haunting of Hill House, that one's amazing. Besides, any Doctor is welcome in my apartment any time.

Maybe on some appropriately dark, stormy night when we have to use candles instead of overhead lights.

That sounds perfect. We could even have our own storytelling contest, just like the Shelleys. Spring is a good time for rainstorms, and if March really does come in like a lion, it'd be a good chance...
