When the song is done, he takes a breath and grins. It's obvious he's been doing this for a while and is slap happy about it]

As curses go, this is fun. One of the better ones. If you have to be cursed. It might as well be with music.

Oh wait--! [a new song begins to play and makes him laugh. He flips his shades on]

[She thinks for a moment before humming and starting to sing the beginning of a song]

That I haven't heard. Catchy, though. Not surprising that it comes from Sylvando. [he tries to play along, but the song clashes with the one that's currently going on in his background and he gives up]

I was never much for Broadway. Maybe we can enable something else to come our way.

Yeah me, neither. I mean seriously, can you see me at one of those fancy plays?

[She snorts, shaking her head at the very idea.]

Enable? Like try to get another song?

Is it because it's Broadway or because it's fancy?

[he grins]

Yep. That's what I mean. If we start singing something we like loud and obnoxiously, maybe the magic will change just to get us to shut up.

Yes? [She grins right back] C'mon, I don't fit in with the fancy crowds. I never have.

[She mulls over his suggestion]

Ah well don't let that stop you from doing what you want to do. What you choose to wear isn't anywhere near as important as what exists in here. [he tapped the center of his chest.

I never do. [She grins.] That's how I ended up with a no trespass order to the country club. But I'll tell you, that girl will never forget her quinceanera.

[he laughs shortly at that] I don't doubt.

[She laughs] Ohhh better not. I don't want you to ruin her for me forever. I have some amazing memories of going to see her in concert when I was still alive. How 'bout you? What kinda music do you like?

Really? I never got the chance. Funny thing, you travel through time and space, but there is always something you miss. It's what makes it exciting. [he grins] It's what makes moments precious.

Anything. Everything. Mostly. There was one band on Yagyu Orbit 47 that made your eyeballs burst-- and even then the sound wasn't bad but it's something you can really only enjoy once. Fortunately I was in the middle of regeneration at the time.

[Okay how could she resist that? She laughed and shut the mirror. It wasn't long before she came walking through the jungle... Hoping his music would drown out the sound of her drums.]

[She laughs, dancing the rest of the way over to him. Surely he couldn't notice the additional rhythm to his song.]

Grey hair, ridiculous sunglasses, eyebrows that could scare a giant sloth...

[She winks, grinning at him.]

[he does, but he doesn't say anything.]

Oh I know him. He's... this one, isn't he? [a new song starts to play. Whether it's a coincidence or not, he's not admitting it]

[Small favors. She laughs as his song changes, twirling in a circle, her skirts swooshing around her legs.]

Not even close, you silly thing.

[As she reaches out and takes his hand, though, her drums fade and a song replaces them. Her eyes widen at the change and she stares at him in a loss for what to do.]

[there's not much he can say to that. Not much that would be wise anyway. Really, there was only one thing to be done in this situation. He spun her against him, slipping a hand around her waist to rest against the small of her back -- and proceeded to dance it out. His own song matching hers in intensity and rhythm. It was just too old friends dancing to an intense song. No strange emotions here]

[Well if she'd been expecting any sort of reaction it certainly wasn't that. But she wasn't going to complain. Not when she could be close to the Doctor, dancing in his arms again. It seemed to be a trend, them dancing instead of talking. But it worked. She smiled, easily matching step with him as he twirled her through the trees. When her song ended she was breathless, smiling up at him.]

[he was smiling at her too. The music had changed, but he hardly noticed it. He began dancing a little slower, pulled her a little closer, his hearts like drum beats. He needed to say something, only the only thing he could think of was]

[She slowed as he did, slipping closer to him as they moved. Her hand slid up to find the back of his neck. She wouldn't say it but she wanted to be as close to him as possible. Even while he was being so very eloquent. She grinned at him.]

[he tries not to think of how close they are or how nice her hands feel at the back of his neck. That's how mistakes happen]

[Mistakes? Or happy accidents?]

Oh I've been known to come here from time to time. Usually when there's a particular handsome devil about.

[two handsome devils, he thinks. Both handsome and both... somewhat devilish though one more than the other would let himself be. Especially her eyes. The curve of her jaw. But her eyes mostly. The familiarity. The history. Everything he had ever been was part of it.]

This is dangerous, you know. [he doesn't explain. He figures she knows]

[Flattery? So kind. But so true.

She watches his face as he thinks. She knows how conflicted he always is about them, especially when they get close like this. Once upon a time it would have brought her joy. Now... She's not sure what to call it. She just doesn't want him to leave.]

I do. But when has a little danger ever stopped you before?

[he laughed]

This kind of danger? Always. Often. Oh, the distances I've gone to avoid it. But... it always finds me...

What about you? Honestly? Have you ever...?

[She continued moving in their slow dance as she contemplated his question. Had she? Granted, many of her memories were still quite muddled, but the answer was clear. She nodded.]

Stopped? Oh yes. I was always more interested in self-preservation than running into danger. Although... there have been times when it just looked like too much fun to resist.

[guitar_hero]

No... I mean... Have you ever gone on... Have you ever felt... [he takes her hand and kisses her knuckles before pressing that hand over one of his racing hearts] This.

[Myriad emotions flit across her face. Confusion. Understanding. Sadness. Regret. Loss. Guilt. She swallows, focusing on the feeling of his hearts beating under her hand.]

Yes... yes I have.

[She could feel her own hearts racing in her chest, nearly matching his. Her words were simple, but the answer was far from it. She'd felt that before, certainly. A very long time ago with a very dear friend... There had been other times in her youth, but this had been different. It always has been. Since then... well... ]

Me too. [well...she knows that. Of course she does. She more than anyone.]

And, as they say a song began to play]

Yes. That.

[and before his common sense and really bad idea sense and what the hell are you doing sense kicks in. He takes Missy's face in both hands and kisses her]

[They've always had a complicated friendship. Of course, she was mostly at fault for that. But now... things were less complicated, and yet more so. It was so much simpler when she didn't feel all these rubbish emotions... but she'll fight tooth and nail to keep them now that she's got them.

She barely registers what he said before his hands are on her face, holding her so gently. Then his lips are on hers and nothing else matters. She melts against him, her hand still pressed against his chest over his hearts as they kiss.]

[he doesn't dare deepen the kiss, it's already dangerous enough. His hearts jump under her hands hand his own pulls her just a little bit closer. It feels so wrong. It feels so right. It doesn't mean he's in love tonight, but-- there's something there.

When he finally lets it end, he rests his forehead against hers.]

[A kiss doesn't need to be deepened to be passionate and full of unspoken emotions. Unspoken ones, and ones that haven't been admitted to themselves yet. Missy's eyes slide closed as she savors every single piece of the moment. The taste of his lips. The feeling of his hearts under her hand. Her hearts racing just as quickly in her own chest. His arms around her. It's the most important kiss she's ever experienced. It's also the most powerful... and the most dangerous. She wants more, wants to feel him against her... but she's frightened by what that could mean.

When his lips leave hers, her eyes stay closed. She sighs softly, smiling as his forehead touches hers.]

Well, indeed...

[he had no idea. It was a wonderful feeling, in all the contexts that wonder could evoke. Of looking up at the night sky and being inspired by all the stars, but also somewhat terrified but the enormity of the universe. Of course for him it was the same kind of terror that sent him crashing through it, kicking up stardust as he went]

I've no idea.

[She opened her eyes and smiled. She was delighted by the unknown. She didn't know what was going to happen or what direction they'd take but she was absolutely tickled to find out... and terrified. But that excited her all the way to her very core.

She tilted her head just enough to press a brief, soft kiss to his lips.]

But I can't wait to find out.
