[Rose had just gotten off of work and was currently making her way back to the apartments when she makes the post. She was no longer in her uniform, but she wasn't in her usual armor nor wearing her horned circlet either. Just some normal casual clothing for once.]

Apparently there is another holiday festival coming up that does not exist in my world, and thus I have no idea what it is about. The manager at the Cafe told me that if I wanted time off for Valentine's Day to ask for it soon, since Cafe was most likely going to be busy that day.

What is this Valentine's Day about and what should I expect if I do work that day?

[Considering that some of the holiday's she has witnessed so far were a bit strange for her tastes. It was best to be a bit prepared so as not to get culture shocked too much.]

It's a nonsensical tradition that somehow manages to whip hordes of youth into a frenzy every year.

Where I'm from, it's focused around chocolate. Women distribute chocolate to the men in their lives...small, simple gifts for everyone, and carefully hand-crafted ones for those they're attracted to. Men who receive these gifts respond by giving a small gift of something in white a month later.

...though I've never had to consider what a same-sex couple would do before.

But in the west, it's a more generalized tradition. Both members of the couple celebrate with gifts and dinner out, and you'll generally see people desperate to pair up in the weeks leading up to it so they don't appear lonely.

Working in a restaurant, you'll likely be asked to assist with at least one marriage proposal, witness some clueless idiot stage a public breakup...but just leave the couples to their business and you'll be fine.

Soa... If that is the case, I will ask off just so I will not have to deal with such nonsense.

That's the smart play. Nobody needs that kind of drama, and the social obligation aspect kills the spontaneity of love.

It is not so much the drama that bothers me. [It's more to do that she doesn't want to be reminded of what she had lost long ago.]

Though I do agree that having a holiday for just romance almost defeats the purpose of romance spontaneously.

I can't disagree. It's an evil plot from us business owners to get everyone to spend ridiculous amounts of money on kitchen supplies and ribbons, and it's not truly a gift if it's obliged.

But if you like chocolate...wait until the day after. You'll get a great price.

That makes it sound even worse if businesses are making a profit off of others affections.

Business isn't exactly known for its ethics. Most holidays trend that way eventually, advertisers focused on creating shopping frenzies.

Perhaps I should be grateful that my world is not like that when it comes to holidays and festivals. At least not to that extent.

It's not that hard to avoid if you know what to look for. But spending a quiet day with the people you care about is probably a better idea.

A holiday! I've been to one of those. There was a lot of food and everyone was very happy. What goes on during the holiday? Is it fun? Do you dance? Is there singing?

I do not know much about this holiday, thus why I was asking about it.

What I was told about it so far was that it is a holiday centered around romance.

Romance? [That's something she didn't expect to be asked.]

In this case it is a type of gesture you do for someone you love.

Like holding them when they're scared or not eating people without asking first because they wanted you to?

.... I am not even going to ask why you would even think about eating people...

But yes. Something along those lines.

People are delicious. And very nutritional. If I ever ate a person I wouldn't have to eat again for a few days.

But no one ever says yes. [a little frown] It's hard being romantic.

People do not want to be eaten, because it will kill them. Most people are rather fond of living, so of course they will say no.

Perhaps do not eat people at all and romance will be easier for you.

....I'm not stupid. I know it will kill them. [he folds his arms] And I know they'll say no, but you never know. Anyway, people kill animals and eat them all the time without even asking and they can have romance.

Aby would love me if I had romance or not.

I never said that you were stupid.

But there is a difference between animals and sentient beings.

The only difference is you can't understand them. Or won't. If they don't speak to you or look like you it's alright to eat them.
