Hi everyone! I heard we got a bunch of newbies, so if we haven't met, I'm Webby Vanderquack! I've been here a while, so I figured it's time I really took advantage of all the different people here. See, one day, I'm going to be the best adventurer - slash - spy - slash - explorer, and to do that I need to know absolutely everything about everything!

Plus, I like learning stuff. It's fun!

[Now she begins trying to balance on one hand, then goes back to the other hand.]

Back home, just being with my friends taught me all kinds of things! Dewey taught me about sledding, Huey taught me about the Junior Woodchucks, Louie taught me how con free juice, and Lena taught me how to take no prisoners in a pillow fight.

So what I'm asking is, what do you think you can teach me? I'll take lessons on anything! Weaponry, martial arts, cooking, sewing, photography, hacking, fashion, basket-weaving, lion-taming - uh-oh - WHOA - 

[In the middle of her list, she lost her balance and fell over right onto her side. Oof.]

Well, Webbigail, you will find that I am not everybody.

[She watched the child get to her feet, ready to hold out a hand if necessary. But it didn't seem to be, so she made no move to assist.]

Now then. You've gotten your clothes absolutely filthy. If you'd like to learn anything, you should do so while properly dressed. Come along.

[Mary turns on her heel and starts back towards the apartment buildings, assuming Webby will follow.]

[... So did she want Webby to go and change, or to follow her? Webby blinks, but then decides, okay, this is happening, and follows along.]

So you heard all that? Cool! What can you teach me?

[Rightly so. Webby gets a small smile down at her.]

I fail to see what the current temperature has to do with anything. I can teach you a number of things. Etiquette, for one. But of that list that you gave I can also teach you cooking, sewing, and basket weaving, though I fail to see how the latter would be of any use here.

You never know! A good explorer, adventurer, and spy has to be ready for any and all situations when they may be thrust upon you!

Hmmm.

[For a moment it seems she might scoff and dismiss the lofty goals of the child... But she gives a small nod.]

Well it certainly pays to be prepared, as long as one is a well rounded individual and not a wild savage.

... And how do I make sure I don't become a wild savage?

[She wasn't aware that was something she had to be concerned over!]

[What were children learning? Ugh. She smiled patiently down at her.]

You learn how to dress and behave like a lady.

... Aren't I already a lady since I'm a girl?

[Are they not one and the same?]

You can be a young lady but not act like one.

[She pursed her lips, muttering.]

Believe me, I've met several such young ladies.

Oooh, I get you!

[At least she thinks she does - acting is a very important part of being a spy! She needs to nail the role to deceive others!]

Then consider me your apprentice, I'm ready to learn!

[They've reached the building and Mary opens the door with a smile.]

Excellent! Then what we need is a good clean start!

Great! ... So what is this? Your home?

Well the building is home to all of us apprentices, is it not? We can either go to my flat or yours, whichever you'd prefer.

Oh, right.

Fenton's been working late a lot recently... he needs his rest. We can go to your place!

Certainly. Please just bear in mind I have a rather... Unorthodox... Flatmate. [She winces only slightly as she leads the way to her room.]

Really? What are they like? Mine calls himself a Doctor but isn't a doctor, and the other one is an alternate counterpart of someone I know from my world.

That sounds very complicated. [Mary raised an eyebrow.] My flatmate is... Well, he calls himself a demon. He's incredibly rude and has no manners or hygienic habits.

Oh, neat!

[She's always wanted to meet a demon that wasn't actively trying to kill her.]

There's an angel around here too. Do you think they know each other?

Aziraphale? Oh yes, we've met. It's entirely possible they know each other. This does seem to be a relatively small community, after all.

[She led the duckling up the stairs to her flat, unlocking the door and letting her in.]

I'm used to mess! The boys don't clean their room. Huey tries, but it's two against one.
