[Webby appears... upside-down? No, adjusting your mirror-phone won't fix it, she's actually like that - she's practicing headstands, and had turned it on so she could talk.]

Hi everyone! I heard we got a bunch of newbies, so if we haven't met, I'm Webby Vanderquack! I've been here a while, so I figured it's time I really took advantage of all the different people here. See, one day, I'm going to be the best adventurer - slash - spy - slash - explorer, and to do that I need to know absolutely everything about everything!

Plus, I like learning stuff. It's fun!

[Now she begins trying to balance on one hand, then goes back to the other hand.]

Back home, just being with my friends taught me all kinds of things! Dewey taught me about sledding, Huey taught me about the Junior Woodchucks, Louie taught me how con free juice, and Lena taught me how to take no prisoners in a pillow fight.

So what I'm asking is, what do you think you can teach me? I'll take lessons on anything! Weaponry, martial arts, cooking, sewing, photography, hacking, fashion, basket-weaving, lion-taming - uh-oh - WHOA - 

[In the middle of her list, she lost her balance and fell over right onto her side. Oof.]

[Forget responding over the video. Fenton heads over to where Webby was, leaning over her and looking her over, warily. She did mention something about a concussion... He was afraid of actually helping her up, in case she was badly hurt, so he was hovering rather awkwardly.]

Webby? Are you okay? Are you hurt? Can you move? Do you need a doctor? I mean an actual medical doctor, not our roomate Doctor.

[woo_oo]

[She blinked up at him, but was instantly all smiles as always.]

Hi, Fenton!

[Oblivious as to his panic, she rolled over onto her stomach, then crawled into a sitting position.]

Yeah, isn't that weird he calls himself Doctor but isn't a doctor? Maybe we'll meet someone named Plumber who doesn't know how to fix a sink.

... Oh, I'm fine!

[beancounter]

[Oh. She wasn't hurt. That was a relief. Okay, so she just toppled over, he should have realized she'd be okay by that, but still... The comment about concussion hadn't helped.]

[He couldn't help but chuckle at her comment about the names, though, grinning.] And a Banker who doesn't know the first thing about money?

I think Scrooge would be furious at someone like that!

[ Ha ha, inside jokes about stingy old men they like.]

[Fenton laughed along with her.] He's furious enough already at bankers who don't hold up to his high standards. Or... eh-heh-heh... [His laughter petered off into something decidedly more sheepish.] accountants... [He tugged at his tie, clearing his throat.] ...Or someone called "Teacher" that can't teach! [This was said with a weak grin, as he was trying to get back on-track with their line of joking.]

[Living with Fenton and the Doctor, Webby has slowly but surely been picking up social cues. So, that mumble gets noticed.]

... You okay?

[beancounter]

[Fenton just chucked sheepishly, glancing aside briefly before looking back at Webby.] Yeah, yeah... I'm fine. Just... heh. Mr. McDuck doesn't have much patience for, erm... fools and I messed up A LOT when I first started working for him. Thankfully as quick as his temper is, he's also good at giving people a second chance. And a third chance...

[woo_oo]

[At that, Webby smiles.]

But that just means he believes in your potential! If Scrooge fired everyone who messed up, he'd have nobody working for him!

... Except Granny, cause I've never seen her mess up. Ever.

[beancounter]

[And at that, Fenton felt a warmth inside him.] Aww, thanks, Webby. I mean, you're right, and he probably would have no one working for him... but I really do hope Mr. McDuck believes in me like that! [Even after working with Scrooge for a few years, Fenton knew he should know better, but that little lingering doubt always, well, lingered.]

Huh. Your world's version of Mrs. Beakley sounds very interesting. I'd love to meet her, one day.

[woo_oo]

[beam beam beam! She loves talking about Granny!]

She's the best! There's nothing she can't do! If she was here, the corroded bad-guys would run in terror!

[D'aww... seeing Webby so proud of her Granny was adorable. Fenton grinned widely.]

Heh... That's... quite different from the Mrs. Beakley I know. I wonder if the two would get along? [That makes him pause to think.] I wonder how any of us would get along with our twins... [Another thoughtful pause, then a small frown. He doesn't voice it, but he IS wondering if he'd be able to put up with his twin... or more likely, if his twin would be able to put up with him. He knows he can get a little... exuberant at times.]

Granny doesn't have any friends, so who knows?

[Sorry for dropping truth-bombs, Granny.]

But I'd like to meet the other Webby sometime. And the other boys. And the other Lena.

[Okay. Both those comments made Fenton frown, but for different reasons. The first, he was a little sad to hear that Mrs. Beakley didn't have any friends in Webby's world. How lonely must that be? Then that just made him wonder if Mrs. Beakley had any friends in his world... and he felt a wave of guilt hit him in that he never really bothered to ever get to really know her... Maybe if - when! - he got back home, he could fix that...]

[The other reason her responses made him frown was, well... ...his world had no Lena. True, like with Mrs. Beakley, he wasn't especially CLOSE to his Webby - another matter he should correct when he gets home! - but even then he was SURE he would have heard if Webby had any sort of friend outside of the nephews (and Bubba). But knowing how close this Webby was to her friend Lena, her wanting to meet the 'other Lena', and knowing there was no 'other Lena'... Fenton didn't know how Webby might react to that news, and he didn't want to upset her, but he also didn't want to outright lie, so.... He felt a bead of sweat form on his brow, trying desperately to figure out just how to respond.]

...They might come here, sometime, who knows? The other Webby and the boys... I'm sure they'd love this place. [He bit the bottom of his beak.] I... I haven't met Lena in my world.... [He smiled nervously and began talking faster... though whether he was trying to comfort Webby, or himself, he wasn't quite sure at this point.] That doesn't mean she's NOT out there, though! I haven't spent much time with the Webby in my world... or maybe you two just haven't MET there, yet, so.... who knows! She could show up, too!

[Boy, Fenton likes taking long pauses, doesn't he? She's curious but otherwise doesn't question.

If it helps, Fenton, maybe there IS a Lena in his world - he just might know her as Minima... if he knows about Magica having family. Which is unlikely. Moving on-]

And if she does, I bet we'll be friends too! Some things are just universal that way. And since any version of the boys, or myself, or Lena, will be relying on me, I've got to become the best Apprentice I can and teach them everything about this place!

[Very unlikely, seeing as how Fenton's only ever interacted with Magica once. He has no idea of any family she might have. But yes, moving on...]

[He can't help but smile softly at Webby's hope and enthusiasm. It definitely was inspiring! The smile turns into a grin, and he nods once, sharply.] That's a great attitude, Webby! I'm sure you'll become one of the best Apprentices out there, with that drive!
