[ The young man who comes on the mirror has a slight smile and a pair of large blue eyes. ]

For those of you whom I haven't met yet, my name is Malcolm Bright. I'm still relatively new here, but I wanted to talk for a minute about this.

[ He holds up a beautifully crafted sword, which he shows from all angles to show the details, then slowly pulls from the sheath. ]

This is a type of Vietnamese sword called a guom. If I had to guess, it's probably from the early nineteenth century, as you can see the French influence in the hilt. Most often, these were carried by high ranking officials or their bodyguards. You can see that it is clearly very high quality, with the ivory hilt and mother of pearl inlay on the scabbard. Oftentimes they were more for show than for function, but I've already tried this sword on a few things and it works very well. [ There might be a few hacked tree limbs and halved fruits lying around. ]

[ Malcolm furrows his brow. ] It's a beautiful piece and I'm honestly not sure that I'm worthy of such a gift. I guess it's a small consolation for being brought here against my will.

[ He turns his eyes back up to the mirror. ] Does everyone get a weapon? I'm curious to see what other people got.

Hey Malcolm, I happen to have this as my weapon.

(Harry is at his flat with Molly right now, in the living room no less. He then pulls out a rather simple looking double bladed polearm in a mix of grey and bronze with the only decorations being on the blades.)

This is a mostly plain looking polearm, but it does have two blades: one on each end. Quite handy in serving as a focus tool and a full on weapon when in a pinch against the Corrosion.

Also, that is a really cool sword you have over there.

I got a dagger. I modified it so it was more like the one I had back home.

He held up a thin, stylish microphone, showing how it concealed a blade.]

They wanted to arm me, which, gotta admit, that was a new one.

Not everyone. It all depends on the class you are in.

For example, those of us in the Monster class do not get a weapon. Though considering the nature of the class, you can say Monsters are living weapons.

[She gave a bit of a shrug and one can see a sword hanging from her belt, though it was mundane in nature.]

Those who do not get a weapon can still purchase one from shops in town, but they hold no special powers like the ones those of the Hero and Warrior classes get. They are almost useless against Corroded.

That's really nice. I like that it's double bladed. I only have a single bladed one back home.

[ That's pretty neat. Malcolm would like to take a closer look at that sometime. He's never seen anything like it. ]

Hey, don’t sell yourself too short, Malcolm. That thing looks rather brilliant in its design. I don’t get to use swords and polearms a lot back home since I usually use a wand to do magic in my world. I did use a sword once, but I just used it to kill a Basilisk when I was 12.

I see. That does make sense. So you have been compensated with some sort of powers rather than a weapon?

[ He wonders how many classes there are. It's kind of interesting to see who ends up falling in what class. ]

As a collector, it's hard to justify using something so beautiful. I don't want to damage it.

But I also want to use it because it's really freaking cool.

It’s a giant deadly reptile that can put people in a death like coma when they look at it, usually directly, with a single glance. Several people in my school, including one of my best friends, fell into a coma from one that was living in a chamber underneath my school.

Monsters are able to use elemental magic, as well we are able to change into a monster form. Though during the full moon we are forced into that form.

Couldn't even keep the Glock I came here with, much less be reimbursed with a new one. You know how much paperwork that'll be, if I go back without it?

That seems potentially problematic. Is it a mental change as well or just a physical change?

I actually had a Glock when I came here too. I thought maybe I dropped it, or... it magically disappeared out of my hands, who knows?

So no weapon here for you?

It’s a magical boarding school in Scotland’s Highlands, and it is among the best wizarding schools in my world. I have been there for around 6 years before I had to done some important stuff for a mentor, it was the closest thing I have to home besides being my best friend’s family’s home.

During the start of the term, new students get sorted by a sorting hat to one of four Houses by looking into our personalities. The houses have a set of ideal traits they want to bring out in each student. Hatstalls can happen though when the hat sees many ideal traits for two houses. (Trust him, Malcolm, you’re talking to a Gyrffindor-Slytherin hatstall.)

I am still myself mentally, so it is not as problematic as you would think.

Really, the only problem I really have is that my monster form does not agree with the cold. Needless to say, this time of year, I do not like to be forced into my monster form.

None to speak of, no. Weapons get...I don't know, Disappeared on arrival. The tac knife didn't make it through either, and that's for field survival! Honestly! I'm surprised that stupid mirror let me keep the matches!

You know what's just hilarious, though? The PE-4 made it through and the detonator didn't.

[He makes a face that suggests he thinks this is absolutely ludicrous]

Wow, that ivory's in real good condition for a guom ... lots of uncommon details, too.

I - d'you mind if I come take a closer look at it? I ... I collect this kind of stuff back home, do a lot of artifact retrievals and stuff. We could trade close looks... I've got what's either my ancestor's actual sword, or a really, really good replica of it.

A dragon. Most full moons I am in a half-human/half-dragon form, but on some occasions I do turn into a full dragon.

Field mission. Call me a catastrophist, but I like to be prepared.
