[She sets out, and so far, so good.] Okay, so anyone else get jobs yet and all that? Give me sound my first night out, since I didn't wanna risk my cybud up here.

[Exclusively for her "roommates," there's a pair of cupcakes, one for 12 and Michael respectively. 12's is banana with edible ball-bearings, and Michael's is devil's chocolate with a paperclip. Both have messages.]

I got a job, today, too. I start tomorrow - they're letting me work at the Emporium, that big store full of all the stuff! I'm so excited, Rose. All that human stuff.

Okay, you should name him! And you can put him next to your bed like a good luck charm. But not too near the lamp, he'll melt faster than a real paperclip.

Uh-huh.... [Nod nod. You giant weirdo.] Do they have glitter and cardboard though? This is very important. [No, it's not, she just wants to see him get the equivalent of craft store herpes.]

[Puts the brakes on the bike to hold it in place, light up a lantern, and suck on a finger in mock thought.]

[Laying it on way too thick? Almost definitely. But Rose wasn't willing to bank on him or the Doctor getting it if she was even a teensy bit more subtle.]

It has been a while. Maybe what you need is to strap a few pillows to yourself, then at least you would have a soft landing if you fell.

So that is the job you settled on, is it? Lamplighter. They might have just given you a ladder and a long pole, but I suppose if you are enjoying yourself... you are enjoying yourself, aren't you?

Oranges then, perhaps. And ahh, yes. I can see how that'd be perfect for lighting lamps. [He pauses.] They're not electric? [Meaning the lights.]

Hmmm, yeah. That'd be tricky. How did you get up on it in the first place? [He pauses to think.] Maybe you can set up some kind of pulley system? Like... toss a rope over a tree branch and pull yourself up? Or maybe an extendable/collapsable ladder that you can carry on your back like a backpack! Climb up it, get on the bike, pull it up after you and fold it up? You'd have to find some place to brace yourself against, while you're on your bike, when you do that, though... Too bad the bike itself doesn't have a ladder built into it.

[Fenton puffs up a little, proudly.] Accountant for the mayor. Going to help him keep the books balanced, and all.

Not actually a man, Rose. You don't want to know how many times Eleanor tried to seduce me to get out of the Neighborhood.

[he makes a little face. sex. ick. he's barely comfortable living normally in this weird body, never mind doing sonething like that with it. wearing him down is going to be A Project if she really wants it]

Built in ladder... You know, I might have to ask the Doctor about that, good idea Fenton!

Ooooohhh, impressive! I take it you did accounting before?

I don't know if you noticed, but neither is my soul mate.

What happened when Eleanor tried?

[Rose is unperturbed, mainly because she is 100% larking about. She'd have to back pedal more if he said yes.]

Yeah! I hate pretty much every other job, but I always felt pretty free riding my bike around in London, and I found out my element specialty! It's light! So this is pretty perfect for me!

[ Happily he chanted the little rhythm he had just dreamed up a few times in a sing songy style voice like it were a congratulations for Rose when... suddenly it had an effect. Little glowing balls of colored light formed around Rose, clinging to her bike and harmlessly floating around her. His chant ended instantly. ]

Oh dear... It's happened again, hasn't it?

[Giggles.] I guess yours is pure whimsy? Or just random?

If I had to put a label on it I would say it's more... chaotic.

[bigbadrose]

But it's whimsy chaotic.... no you're right. Flaming hats. Okay, so how do you manage that?

I've notice it does tend to happen in one of two ways. Either I'm thinking about something I'd really like to have and I end up getting it... though not always in a useful way, like the hats. Or I'm saying something that rhymes and that causes something to happen, like those lights a moment ago. I don't seem to have much control of it at all.

I do hope your light powers are working out better? No unusual side effects?
