[it has to be said he has had to have time to get over certain things, but he's rested a bit and reconnected a bit and no longer feels like he is falling apart at the seams. And so! He stands in front of the window, light streaming in around him, because Presentation is 50% of...well...proceeding to foment.
Anyway, the point is, with the light on his wings and through his hair and his immaculate clothes... that he is a bit tired of wearing, he must say. That, however is neither here nor there.
Added to the mix, the sapphire on his rose gold pinky ring is glowing faintly.
When he speaks, his voice is low and quite musical though he's not singing. There is a certain richness to it. Like honey or warm milk. Something nostalgic and full of meaning]
Good afternoon, everyone.
We've had quite an adventure, haven't we! Some more adventure than others it seems. And look. Sometimes it took a miracle, but we have all survived it-- and succeeded no less. And have gotten sparks for our trouble. [he presses a hand to his heart, the one on which the ring sits and the sapphire seems to trail light into the air]
It might have been difficult and trying... but the reward is that we are a little closer to success. To making things right. To discovering ourselves and what we are truly capable of. Thank you for those who rescued Dreamfinder and [he falters, then says confidently] Pigment.
And even though the quest to retrieve the amulet sadly didn't do as much as was hoped-- who knows what may come of it? Perhaps the real benefit was the friendships we made along the way.
As before, I am always here to help as I can... But please make an appointment first unless it's crucial. I do have a lot to learn myself. Beyond that, I'll always lend a willing ear to any of your problems.
Rest easy my friends. We have much to be proud of.

[and he isn't altogether sure he wants to know, but he won't stop Michael either]
Ooh questioning. Questioning is a slippery slope. Especially if you can slide further. I wouldn't, you know. You could get in a lot of trouble for-- questioning. Everything is done for a reason.

[he rattles it off the way human retirees talk about setting up their pension disbursement, buying an RV, and living in The Villages in Florida, going to the flea markets every weekend.]
But see, that's the thing. You think there's a reason. They want you to. But sometimes that reason isn't there anymore because the assholes who trained you to do your life's work have been taking advantage of the reason for centuries and turned it into whatever they want because they think they're better tham you and it's funny to make you jump through hoops and fall on your face.
[bitter? noooo. he's not bitter about what he discovered right before his canon point and hasn't really thought about until mow. he's straight up pissed.]

As for the rest... He thinks: Well it is hell, dear. Frankly it was amazing they gave him a reason. From what little he knows of the place, it's pretty much do what you're told and you might get rewarded but we also might twist your eyeballs out because we're bored.
Heaven is not quite like that. Oh there were politics, true. And sometimes he wondered if things were going quite as they should. But at least they all worked for the greater good.]
That sounds an awful thing to have to go through. [and he's sincere, because it does, regardless of the fact that it shouldn't really be so unexpected. But he's not one to judge. Much] But what are you going to do?
no subject
I got evidence, and once we're done here, I'm bringing it straight to the Good Place. And I'm gonna get everything fixed the way it should be.

[or well, it's not quite a lie as their system is not quite his own system and so there's a possibility it could work out. But he has the feeling somehow that Michael is fighting a losing battle and that his 'Good Place' would not care much for the problems of a demon.
Which was sad, really]

[careful, angel. he's a fast learner.]
You don't have to try to make me feel better like these humans. We can just talk. I think it's called bitching.
no subject
We have very staunch views about hell in my er... [he can't call it the Good Place. It's just too much.] ...office.
But tell me, if it's not too personal a question. Did you have a war as well? Did you fall? I don't need to know the nature of it, I'm just curious how our two...worlds? I suppose? Contrast.
no subject
[a little chuckle]
Humans, am I right? But no, I don't think anyone really fell, we just sort of are where we are. Demons in the bad place, angels in the good place. I don't think anyone's ever really switched sides. Judge Gen just steps in if things get really sticky, and that's only really happened with Mindy St. Clair and the Medium Place.

[and the rest of it, he sighs a little, folding his hands in front of him. He doesn't know why the Almighty chose to have more than one universe, nor why she chose heaven and hell to be one way in one place and another way in the other. Her plans were ineffable and for the best, but sometimes he felt like just a wheel in the experiment of some impartial scientist.]
The Almighty certainly has interesting ideas about things, doesn't she. [a pained smile] Perhaps she thought it easier-- No I'm not going to begin to guess why. [though it doesn't seem entirely fair. To start out in hell with no choice of whether you wanted to be there or not. But...he supposes it's all for the best]
We had a war. Bit of a nasty one too. It's impossibly sad when you look into the eyes of the angel that you knew-- had known-- and to fell them. [he presses his lips together and shakes his head] I wouldn't even recognize most of them, you know. That's the saddest part.
I almost wish we had your system. [almost]

[he frowns. he doesn't know anyone in the Good Place, but he knows Janet, who was supposed to have been. aside from the fact that Janet would kick his skinny tall white ass in a hot Jacksonville second, he wouldn't be able to fight her. he couldn't bring himself to do it. she's his best friend. when he speaks again, he sounds distraught]
I can't even imagine that. I couldn't do it. Why did you even have to fight? Because it was your Almighty's idea? Because she said so?
no subject
[at the rest of it, he arches his wings a bit and straightens]
Because Lucifer and his [cronies? friends?] compatriots wanted to overthrow the creator due to jealousy and anger and who knows what else. Much worse would have happened had we failed, believe me. [he is about to add that his Almighty is everyone's Almighty, but decides not to dive into those theological waters]
no subject
[he nods, feeling even more vindicated in his plan now that an actual angel agrees with him. he decides maybe he should show him the Book of Dougs sometime. he's still got it stowed away safely in an empty, clean pillowcase under his bed.]
Jealousy, huh. ... You know, I used to think it was kind of funny watching people get jealous of each other. But now I'm realizing it just sucks.
no subject
[and it is something he believes. Which can be dangerous to say in Heaven. Of course most decided that the: except demons, of course; was implied. But surely she must have loved them once. Surely, once loved, that doesn't dissipate?]
no subject
[that's a concept he'd never heard. it takes him aback, since he's still even figuring out friendship, for crying out loud.]
Isn't that exhausting? I mean, caring that much? All the time? I know I sure couldn't do it.
no subject
oops I didn't mean to switch styles, brackets are fine, derp
"I never really thought about that. ... It is really hard, sometimes. Especially when you can't do anything but... watch someone hurt."
rofl don't even sweat it. I can barely keep the tenses the same in the same freakin tag. <3
[he hesitates, then adds]
In the meantime... well... there are always people to talk to.

"And what is it you find attractive, I wonder? Forgive me if it's impertinent, it's just that where I'm from...ethereal and occult beings are close enough in kind to gauge attractiveness. Hence our forms." He gestures at himself. It's mostly true. For himself anyway.
"So I'm curious how others might perceive it."

"I quite enjoy aesthetics myself, actually. Though I do have to admit that there's something-- well-- primal about a human's...er...need to..." He made a vague gesture. "Naturally I'm above that sort of thing. But I suppose what I mean is; I understand where they're coming from."
